Boarding Life
At Wycombe Abbey School Nanjing, the 24/7 schedule allows children countless opportunities to explore and study beyond the classroom.
Staff at Wycombe Abbey School Nanjing care about each student individually. We offer them a top learning environment as well as a comfortable home. The school can accommodate 1,028 boarders from Grade 1 to Grade 12.
A 24/7 Growth Experience
Boarding House
Dormitories for Grade 1-6 students are equipped with single beds for greater safety. Each room accommodates four students and has two private bathrooms, providing a warm, family-like environment. This emphasis on safety and comfort is designed to reassure parents about their child’s well-being.
For middle and high school students, there are options for four-persons and two-persons dormitories. The two-person room is equipped with desks and bunk beds. However, the traditional ladder design has been replaced by staircases to ensure greater safety. To provide students of sixth form with a private study space, single rooms are also available for them.
Our boarding education dramatically enhances the breadth and depth of campus life
With our state-of-the-art facilities, we can deliver our holistic education on a “24/7” basis.
Compared with students in traditional day schools, those studying in boarding schools spend much more time on campus. Taking Middle School as an example, classes start at eight o’clock in the morning and end at ten o’clock in the evening. Students have a busy schedule throughout the day, sometimes even throughout the weekend. As a result, each of them can be fully committed to their academic courses, as well as their interests and hobbies, club activities and professional competitions. Thanks to developing and improving their time management skills, students can achieve twice the result with half the effort.
In their “24/7” boarding life, besides time management skills, students develop many other essential skills and qualities for their future growth and development, such as independence and social skills. They learn how to get along with their peers and adults and cooperate to solve problems, which not only helps them fully prepare for further studies in top universities in the world but also leads them to successful careers and happy lives. Boarding school life also helps them develop into responsible global citizens.
Auld Lang Syne
Of course, the benefits of boarding school life for students are not limited to personal development. In a system of pastoral care, teachers can closely observe the progress made by our students and can offer more individualised advice on their academic study and moral development.
The teacher-student relationships, as well as the friendships among students forged during life at a boarding school, often last for a lifetime. Teachers may not only be teachers but also friends. Thanks to this deep friendship, our graduates will keep in contact with the school after entering university and try their best to help younger students and contribute to the development of the school.
Students learn and grow in the community and then give back to it, creating a virtuous circle. This is what we call a “learning community,” it is just one aspect of what we want to teach our students through boarding education and our teams of house tutors.
